RAKING IT IN…..

Nov 22, 1999

Our cool, rainy spring provided the groundwork for lustrous,
abundant yards and trees. And, as you noticed, the clean up of the brown, fallen leaves was seemingly unending. Though the leaves lose their green color, they can still have a full and active life. Recycling, or mulching and composting those brown leaves is much better for the environment than dumping them into a landfill.

This fall, Keep Englewood Beautiful, through the Leaf and
Tire drop Off, offered an alternative to composting or discarding leaves in the trash. The Drop Off, a joint effort by the City of Littleton and Keep Englewood Beautiful, provided a chance for residents to recycle their leaves.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Drop Off, more
than four ?“trash?” compacting trucks full of leaves were turned into mulch. Approximately 400 people helped our communities keep valuable, recyclable, organic materials from going to the landfill. Although this year?’s program is over, keep the Drop Off in mind for next fall.
