North Attleborough Fire Department - Emergency Services
The North Attleboro Fire Dept. provides the community with 24 hour Fire and Emergency Medical Services from its three Stations located on:
Elm St. - Fire Headquarters (Engine 5, Ladder 1, Rescue 2 , Engine 6, and Car 3)
Kelley Blvd.- Station 2 (Engine 2 )
Allen Ave. - Station 3 (Engine 4 and Rescue 1*) *Rescue1 is staffed during high volume periods or as needed.
In 2000, NAFD units responded to 3,447 emergency incidents. These incidents included 2,929 responses by Fire Apparatus and 2,188 responses by Ambulance/Rescues. Almost half of the fire responses were to assist the Rescue at medical emergencies (the closest Fire Engine is always sent to all emergency calls).
The department also responded to 142 total fires in 2000, resulting in 6 deaths and $886,560 in property damage.
NAFD has recently taken delivery of a new Command vehicle and new rescue equipment. The 2001 Ford Expedition, a 4-wheel drive utility vehicle, arrived January 24, 2001. The vehicle will be used for command staff functions at all emergency incidents.
The department has also upgraded its extrication equipment for motor vehicle accidents. The new "Jaws of Life" and related equipment are state of the art and will enable firefighters to rapidly access patients trapped in vehicles involved in accidents.
