Last, but not least, please keep in mind that Christmas is a season for giving. There are a lot of folks in unfortunate circumstances this year. I don?’t think I have ever seen so many Angel Trees or organizations looking for donations.
As you prepare your home for the holidays, make a list of all of the things you have to be thankful for. Then look at ways you can help someone else find something to be thankful for.
Even if you cannot afford to give anymore than you already have, there are other things you can do. Offer to sit for a single parent or someone with a sick relative so they can get out and do their holiday shopping and enjoy the lights. Offer to help someone put up their Christmas tree or decorations. Older folks whose joints aren?’t what they used to be have a particularly rough time in the cold. Leave a thermos of coffee or hot cocoa for your mail carrier or newspaper delivery person. Volunteer at the soup kitchen. Donate canned goods to the local food bank. Join a group a carolers and visit some local nursing homes. Donate a small toy to Toys for Tots or any of the church programs.
My Christmas wish to you...As you remember the true meaning of Christmas, may your hearts overflow with joy that will last you the whole year through.
