NOG Neighborhood Survey Results

Thank you to the 38 neighborhood people who completed surveys and submitted them. 25 of the surveys were mailed in, showing an effort to help us learn what is important to you, and we thank each of you!

Results showed a good representation of most of the streets in the neighborhood.

* Strengths: many of today's survey comments repeat NOG's original 1995 survey comments - that our neighborhood is friendly, quiet, safe; a
convenient location; with unique older homes, older trees, and good sidewalks.
* Weaknesses: speeding traffic, some houses needing repair, loose and/or barking dogs, litter, rental properties, some parking problems, no area parks, lack of choices for grocery shopping, trashy yards, noise.
* Important issues: traffic was at the top of the list, especially in light of the I-235 and MLK construction.
* Improvements: sidewalk, curbing, street repair, flowers on corners, housing improvements.
* Activities for NOG in order of importance: preservation and restoration, traffic, forums, crime, representing NOG, events, self-help, beautification, planning & zoning, K-12 school issues, workshops.
* Events to participate, in order of importance: Scrub Day, Garage Sale, Picnic, I-235 Cleanup, House Tours, Self Defense.
* Comments: Included were many thanks to NOG for all of its hard work. Suggestions are to: convert empty Osco's into community center, do workshops, stop signs. 17 responses felt NOG has accomplished its goals.
* Neighborhood Meeting Times: 7 voted for Wednesdays, 5 for Tuesdays, and 4 for Mondays. Due to the survey results, we are now planning to hold every other meeting on Tuesdays instead of always meeting on Mondays, to give different folks a chance to attend who might normally have a conflict with Mondays.
