Near East Area Commission (NEAC) 2003 Elections

Annual Elections

NEAC will hold its annual elections on Saturday, June 7, 2003 from 10 - 3 P.M.at the Columbus Health Dept. 240 Parsons Rm 119-E. East side residents can run and vote for District Commission seats in their prospective districts. Terms are for three years and must have final approval of City Council and the Mayor. Candidates can pick up petitions to run at the Central Community Hpuse 1251 Bryden Rd.from 8:30 to 5 Mon - Fri. starting April 7, 2003. Petitions must be returned to the Central Community House by Friday, May 16, 2003 prior to close of business day. The candidate can designate someone else to pick up and/or return his/her petition.

District Boundaries

District I
West side of Champion Avenue; East side of I-71; South side of I-670; North side of East Broad St.

District II
West Bank of Alum Creek; East Side of Champion Avenue;South side of I-670;North side of East Broad St.

District III
West side of Wilson Ave.;East side of I-71; South side of East Broad St.; North side of I-70.

District IV

West Bank of Alum Creek;East side of Wilson Avenue;South side of East Broad St.;North side of I-70.

Open Seats/Qualifications

The following are the open seats for expired terms:

District I - one (1) seat.

District II - one (1) seat.

District III - two (2) seats.

District IV - two (2) seats.

Candidates must be 16 or older and reside in (rent or own)their respective districts. They need not be a registered voter. Voterw will be asked to present proof of address on voting day.
