A demolition request at 173 Woodland Avenue for the demolition of a carriage house was not supported by NEAC by recommendation of the Zoning Committee.
Kroger asked to reschedule their presentation until the November Zoning Meeting.
There is a demolition request for 1450 Madison Ave, Love Zion Baptist Church. At this time the paper work is incomplete.
Columbus Housing Partnership (CHP) presented plans for 484 Linwood Avenue. The current structure will be demolished. CHP is willing to work with the Commission and neighbors to pick the color of the vinyl siding. The front yard tree will stay and the backyard tree wil be torn down in the demolition and construction.
Ms. Christie Angel, SBC Ameritech, spoke as a neighborhood outreach. She answered any questions and stated that SBC is continually trying to better service. She also spoke about the USA Lifeline program which offers discounted phone service to those participating in qualifying programs.
Dr. Teresa Long, City of Columbus Health Commissioner thanked NEAC for being a good neighbor and expressed their excitment of being in the neighborhood. She highlighted the Health Department has 40 programs including WICK, immunization and alcohol and drug abuse programs. They have just opend a Community Resource Center in partnership with the Prevention Council of Ohio. As Health Commissioner her priorities are access to care, access to health and emergency prepardness.
Allen Huff, Neighborhood House updated NEAC on projects in the area. They are currently raising funds to build a new Childcare facility at 965 Atcheson. They will break ground in June 2003. The facility will accomadate over 200 children. They also highlighted their after school and Scotts grant program. Another presentation was made on Wiley Estates, a new development of homeowners on N. 18th Street. The homes are extremely energy efficient.
