CASH met on November 20, 2003 at 7 P.M. at the Woodland Oaks pool house. Two Northcliffe HOA board members were present. Ken Greenwald reported the following information:
?„h several developers are looking at large tracts of land in Schertz, industrial growth is up
?„h Schertz Parkway and I35 (where sign has been for Bob Boomer) will now have apartments.
?„h retirement community planned for the corner of 1103/I35 across from the Quik station is not going to happen due to money problems. Single family homes will now go in.
?„h Rolling Oaks mall will soon have an Extreme Skating rink and a J.C. Penney?¡?¦s is slated to go in near Sears.
?„h work on making the intersection of 3009 and I35 safer should begin in April. A concrete barrier will run down the middle of this intersection (down 3009 towards FM78) stopping at the State Bank and Trust (crossing the road from Taco Cabana to HEB will no longer be possible), there will be a road going behind the Credit Union to connect to the frontage road, McDonald?¡?¦s and Diamond Shamrock?¡?¦s parking lots will connect to HEB. He stated that while this work will create problems while in progress it is necessary as 20% of the accidents in Schertz happen at this intersection.
?„h work on the highway near exit 178 is the start of making the frontage roads one way
?„h construct on the Fire Sub Station near highway 2252 may possibly begin in April. Old bid was too high so the first plan was scrapped.
?„h Elbel Road will be closed for an additional 3-4 months more. Numerous problems have been encountered including sewer lines that had to be moved, and Southwestern Bell lines that were cut due to incorrect marking of their location.
?„h the old Catholic church near the city offices is being looked into for purchase by the city and the possibility of it becoming a new city hall. Old city hall is overcrowded.
?„h a mini-strip mall is slated to go in next to the police station (neighborhood type stores)
?„h Continental Homes has bought land at I35/Weiderstien/Northcliffe; 575 new homes will be built. Problems with sewer lines are causing a delay at this time.
