GUEST SPEAKERS: MAYOR- HAL BALDWIN & CITY MANAGER-DON TAYLOR

A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Dear Residents:

We would like to thank all of the residents of Northcliffe, Scenic Hills, and the Fairways at Scenic Hills for the wonderful turnout at the City of Schertz Traffic Forum held at the Cibolo Valley Baptist Church on Thursday, September 15th. We estimate that attendance was well in excess of 200 people interested in the welfare and safety of our streets. The residents listened to Mayor Baldwin, City Manager Don Taylor, State Representatives Ed Kuempel & Carter Casteel, and TxDot Engineer Ed Malatec, as well as several City Councilmen and key city officials. Ample time for residents?¡?¯ questions and comments was allowed and there was lively interaction throughout the evening. City representatives recorded citizens?¡?¯ concerns and have committed to addressing those concerns with appropriate agencies and personnel. The end result is that they know that we are here, interested, and resolute in our concerns.

We would also like to thank Pastor Gene Tone and his personnel for donating their time and the facilities so selflessly.

The Quarterly Community Meeting will be held October 11th, 7PM at the Fire Station. City Manager Don Taylor will speak to residents on a great variety of issues. Some of those issues will be: Adequate support for our park, Increased need for enforcement of City Code Ordinances (junk vehicles, lawns not mowed, trash on property), Street Lights, Maintenance of vacant lots, Repair of streets and sidewalks, and discussion of why our property taxes will increase 9.8% next year. There is a greater chance of effecting change as a greater number of residents become involved and voice their ideas and opinions. Don?¡?¯t sit and wait for others to make your decisions.

PARK VANDALISM- The City offers a reward of $50 for information leading to the arrest of individuals responsible for any vandalism to our park.

CONSIDERING A DONATION- With the recent devastation placed upon the gulf coast, it?¡?¯s only natural to want to help out somehow but please be cautious; there might be some that are willing to take advantage of your generosity. Reputable organizations won?¡?¯t approach you for a donation, so if you receive a call or an e-mail requesting any monies use prudence.

There are a number of legitimate organizations out there if you choose to donate money or time contact your favorite organization.

TRAFFIC FINES- The speed limit is only 20 MPH throughout all residential areas in Northcliffe. If you are caught speeding in Northcliffe the fine will be $89.00 plus $4.00 for each mile over the speed limit. Also, if you are caught running the stop signs placed throughout our neighborhood as a speed deterrent, you could face a fine of $139.00-$200.00.

Please be considerate and clean up after your pet so your neighbor doesn?¡?¯t get frustrated enough to report the problem.

STREET SWEEPER- The city sends the street sweepers through Northcliffe on the last Friday of each month. If there are too many cars on a particular street the city says that they will NOT clean your street.
