NEXT COMMUNITY MEETING
TUESDAY ?– July 10, 2007 ?– 7 PM
OLD FIRE STATION, 3501 MORNING DRIVE

Ms. Shanna Bates, a representative from the
Schertz Health and Inspections Department will
be speaking at our July Community Meeting.
She will discuss enforcement of City ordinances
as they relate to grass, trash, and other health
and safety hazards. A member of the Schertz
Police Department will also speak in the subject
of ?“Junk Vehicles?” and the part that the police
department plays. If you have concerns about
poorly maintained yards, trash, junk vehicles or
other problems that you perceive to be
hazardous to the health and welfare of your
family, please plan to attend.

In Case You Missed This Last Month!
We have been asked how to get questions and
problems to the Homeowners Association in an
expedient and (if necessary) anonymous
manner. Sometimes there might be a problem
that you?’d like addressed, but don?’t want to
make an issue of it for fear that it may cause
problems with a neighbor. Your answer is here!
We are starting a new feature called ?“Ask Cliffy?”. ?“Cliffy?”, of course, is short for Northcliffe. If you are in a similar situation, send an EMAIL to ncliffe2000@yahoo.com. Put ?“Ask Cliffy?” in the subject line. We will respond to you directly as soon as we can. We will then publish the letter and response in the next newsletter (unless you ask us not to) to make the problem, or concern, known to all residents. We will NEVER give out anyone?’s name or address! We hope you will think this to be a valuable service, and hope you will use it to communicate with us. We are here to make Northcliffe a comfortable, pleasant place to live.

Debbie Bell

Ask Cliffy
We have had several inquiries about two issues
that you all seem to be interested in, so, rather
than printing any specific letter, we will address them in general. One is the problem of people allowing their pets to run free in the
neighborhood. Another is an issue of excess
noise, loud cars, blaring music, etc.
As much as we'd like to help you with these,
they are city ordinance issues and ordinance
violations are handled only by the city. In a
cooperative agreement with the City, we do
inform them when there is a possible violation of
an ordinance that may affect the health and
safety of our residents. However, individual
homeowners must report noise violations to the
police at the time they occur. Excessive noise
can be handled by calling the non-emergency
police number, (210) 658-5321. They will not
require you to give your name. The dog
problem can be handled by calling Animal
Control at (210) 658-6607.
Keep your pets tied or somehow confined to
your own property. Remember, you are liable if
they injure anyone, destroy private property or
injure another pet. Also be careful about noise
bothering your neighbors, especially at night. If, however, these problems persist, call the proper authorities. Again, we are sorry we can't directly handle these issues, but hope they can be taken care of by a little bit of courtesy to each other as neighbors.
Cliffy

Dear Cliffy,
I have a problem with my neighbor. They have
a basketball net in their driveway, and when the
kids play, their ball is forever coming onto our
lawn. We don't want problems, but this causes
wear and tear on our grass,, and they don't
seem to see the problem. Is there anything the
association can do to help me?
Disgruntled

Dear Disgruntled,
Unfortunately, this issue is not covered by any of our community restrictions. Hopefully, by
reading this, all residents may become more
aware of activities around their homes that may
have an impact on their neighbors. By forming
more of an attitude of mutual respect, it is our
hope that these types of issues will begin curing
themselves.
Cliffy

Dear Cliffy,
We have a real problem on our street. Many of
us do not have cats nor want their presence.
They use our flower beds for their cat box and
leave an odor that only a cat owner doesn?’t
object to. It is disgusting. We have two different women on our street that are die hard animal lovers so they keep food on their porches for these cats. Of course this keeps the cats
hanging around where they are not wanted. Is
there anything that we can do about these
women who keep imposing on their neighbors
by feeding these cats? If they want to feed
animals fine but limit it to their own and give all of us who don?’t want animals a break. Some of
us take pride in our yards and are very tired of
fighting the smell. Can you help?

Frustrated

Dear Frustrated:
I would ordinarily suggest that you call Animal
Control, but I have been told that they will
require you to trap the cat yourself and then
notify them to come pick it up. Not many of us
have traps at our ready disposal, so that is not a good alternative. We have notified the City
Health Inspector about the problem and are
waiting for her response. Unfortunately, I may
not have it before this newsletter goes to print. If you attend our next Community Meeting, you will be able to ask her the question in person. All we can do at this point is to request that neighbors respect your personal property and understand the damage created by enticing these cats to stay around. If they do not feed them they will always find food somewhere else.

Cliffy

Dear Cliffy,
I live near the old Fire Station on Morning Drive. I take my children to the Day Care Center in New Braunfels every day. If the road connecting Morning Drive and Country Club Blvd were completed, it would be more convenient for me to get out of our neighborhood. Why has this
road not been completed, and when will it be
done? Thank you.

Dear Resident:
I wrote to Mr. Sam Willoughby, head of Schertz
Public Works concerning your question. The
following is his answer:

KB will include tying Morning Drive to Country
Club Blvd. when they start construction of the
next unit. We are making comments on that unit
now and construction will commence after the
plans meet the city's specification. I believe if
coordination works out, they will be starting in
this area in the near future. If you have anymore
questions let us know.
Thanks
Sam D. Willoughby CFM
Public Works Director

MORE INFO ON REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER SITES

This website came from a neighbor by way of
our email. This is another website that will give
residents addresses of registered sex offenders:
www.FamilyWatchDog.us. This site was
developed by John Walsh from ?“American's
Most Wanted?”. Type in your address and a map
comes up showing your house and the houses
of those who are convicted sex offenders. It
shows you how far they are from you, what type
of offense, and any time served or probation
given. It's a pretty good site.
