NEXT COMMUNITY MEETING
TUESDAY ?– January 10, 2007 ?– 7 PM
OLD NORTHCLIFFE HALL, 3501 MORNING DRIVE

WORDS FROM THE PRESIDENT

Tuesday evening, October 10thwas our third quarter Community Meeting. The attendance was very low, but the weather was, no doubt, a major factor. During that meeting we happily welcomed Mr. Bud Dieter as a new member of our Board of Directors. Mr. Dieter is an Engineer at Randolph AFB, and we are ecstatic to have his expertise as well his commitment to our community.

Mayor Hal Baldwin spoke at our July Community Meeting, and promised to get back to us with answers to some of our questions. Here are the answers he was able to provide:
1. The City continues to work to extend Country Club Blvd. and build a connecting road through Whisper Meadow to FM 1103. This is a complex issue that will take a great deal of time to accomplish.
2. The City has no requirement for developers to provide a sidewalk along major City streets when their development borders that street. Therefore, it does not appear that KB Homes will be required to put sidewalks along their section of Country Club Blvd. Again, our residents must walk on the roads to get anywhere. Unfortunately, that?’s an opportunity lost by the City to have sidewalks built by a developer.
3. John Bierschwale, the Assistant City Manager, has assured Mayor Baldwin that Pulte will build a fence along the homes that back-up to Country Club Blvd. I told Mayor Baldwin that I know of NO major city street in any other part of Schertz where the back yards of homes were allowed to back up to that street without a fence.
4. The Mayor informed me that repair of our subdivision streets will not occur in the first year?’s money from the 20 million dollar bond issue we voted for last spring. He could not tell me when we might expect our deteriorated streets to be fixed, but stated that several streets within Schertz are over 40 years old and in worse condition than ours.

We again welcomed some residents of the Fairways to our Community Meeting. They shared with the group that two houses in the Fairways development had been broken into during the past month while the residents were gone. They just wanted to make people aware that they should secure their homes the best way possible while they are away.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. and Mrs. Linkenhoger on Harvest for their very
generous assistance in mowing, edging and picking up litter along Chelsea. We need more people like them who care about our community. I have also observed a couple of people stopping along Chelsea to pick-up litter. Thanks SO MUCH to you good citizens!

Trans-Siberian Orchestra

This band is a wonderful Christmas treat! It has awesome music, lighting and pyrotechnics! They will be playing at the AT&T Center on Thursday, December 23 at 3 and 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster. Below is a brief biography.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra is a rock/metal orchestra founded in 1996 in New York City. The concept for a band playing Christmas carols in a rock opera style was not received warmly by the industry, but quickly proved a success with adults as well as young people.

In the recording studio, Trans-Siberian Orchestra uses a full 60-piece orchestra and a choir. As of 2004, their touring band included 14 vocalists, 14 musicians, and 2 narrators.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra released their debut album Christmas Eve and Other Stories in 1996, and it remains their best-selling album. Their 1998 release The Christmas Attic was similarly a concept album with a Christmas theme.

After several years of touring, they returned to the studio with another full-length album, Lost Christmas Eve, and the accompanying DVD/3-CD release The Christmas Trilogy, which contained all three of their Christmas albums to date.

Their 2005 tour was number 21 on the list of the most successful concert tours of the year, earning just over US$21 million.
