Oak Meadows Civic Club?’s first Health Fair was a great success. Approximately 125 people came out to support this even, not only from our local neighborhoods but from communities as far as Cypress.
We would like to thank the following for contributions made to our health fair: Texas Petrochemical for the catering, extension cords and literature, Lyondell Citgo, Valero, and Exxon-Mobil for monetary donations. Donations were used to purchase supplies, tables, sign, moonwalks, and enabled us to make a donation to Christ United Methodist Church allowing the use of the facility, a great location for this event.
We would like to thank the following organizations for their participation:
?•U of H Collegiate Cancer Council (C.C.C.)
?•U of H Pre-Optometry Professional Society (POPS)
?•Baylor College of Medicine, Clinical Studies
?•Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
?•Lobo DJ
?•Houston Moonwalks & Rentals
?•MD Anderson ?“Kids on the Block?” Puppeteers
?•Brinks, Mike Petrie
?•Mothers for Clean Air
Our thanks go to the Houston Police Department officers under Sgt. Hewitt?’s direction that attended to finger print the children for the parents?’ records and to the Houston Fire Department for their support. Thanks to the young men serving community service that helped clean up afterwards.
A special thanks to Lily Nevarez and Angelica Marroquin and their families for all the time and effort dedicated to pull this event together. We hope the people who took the time to attend walked away with helpful health information.
