My name is Valeria Thompson and I'm the administrator of the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) at the San Diego Police Department Southeastern Division. RSVP's are uniformed volunteers who supplement the police department by performing many important non-confrontational and educational duties as well as providing an extra set of eyes and ears for the police department. I've been a volunteer with the RSVP for over five years. My duties include doing welfare checks on seniors, vacation house checks, and patrolling defined areas in our community. And yes, I do write certain citations. I take great pride in volunteering with the RSVP program and working with the police officers to help keep our community safe and a great place to live in. Right now we are very short handed and in dire need of more volunteers to help cover our area. If you have at least 4-6 hours, one day per week you could volunteer don't hesitate to call me at (619) 527-3578 or E-mail vthompson@pd.sandiego.gov. I'd be happy to help you!
