Waste Management

Picked up every Tuesday by Waste Management. Homeowner is responsible for moving the can to the edge of the driveway for pickup. Waste Management contract is arranged/administered by the Shelby County Commission. Call Waste Management at (205) 841-2740 for more details on the following three service options:

1. Basic Service - $36 per quarter: Includes weekly pickup of household waste in one 90 gal wheeled container, plus up to two additional personal containers or cans up to 30 gal each.

2. Two Cart Service - $65 per quarter: Includes weekly pickup of household waste in two 90 gal wheeled containers, plus up to four additional personal containers or cans up to 30 gal each.

3. Full Cart Service - $60 per quarter: Includes weekly pickup of household waste in one 90 gal wheeled container, plus up to ten additional personal containers of yard debris and bundles of limbs/sticks up to 3 feet long.

Note: Please do not throw limbs in the drainage ditch along HWY 119 as it causes drainage problems.

Shelby County Landfill/Animal Remains

The only option we presently have for disposal of large items other than sticks, leaves, and yard debris, is to haul these to the Shelby County Landfill located at Ray Building, 504 Highway 70, Columbiana, Alabama 35051, phone (205)669-3737.

Usage fees for landfill: $30.00 per ton for out of county, $19.00 per ton in county, $7.00 for pickup, $5.00 for car or small trailer. Shelby County offers two free days each year for residents to use the Shelby County Landfill, in April and October. Please check the Shelby County Web Site Link for exact dates. The landfill does not accept toxic materials.


· Landfill hours: Mon-Fri 6:30am-4:30pm, Sat 7:30am-3:30pm

If you don't have access to a truck and need help with transportation of large items to the landfill, please call one of the ORHA Officers and we will try to help. Anyone with a truck who is willing to help, please let us know.

Animal Remains: Call the Shelby County Highway Department at (205) 669-3880 to make arrangements for the pickup of animal remains either in the road or on the side of the road in the neighborhood.
