GATEWAY PROJECT by Chris Schaeffer
59th & Shalimar - The Oakcliff Church of the Nazarene has been doing a really fine job of keeping
this gateway beautiful ?– Special thanks to all who are working so hard to keep this one up!!!!!!!!!!
Bryant & Parker ?– Wow, what a transformation since a really great neighbor Alan Jones with A &
W Lawn Service. If you need lawn work you might consider asking Alan, he is sure doing a great
job on Parker ?– special thanks to Alan for all the hard work, it really is nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
44th & Shalimar ?– The neighbors that helped with this last year have not been able to do it this
year. One is moving, one is ill and the other has changed his work schedule. WE NEED HELP!
If this is your entry can you lend a hand? Juanita Phelps and her granddaughter got out recently
mowed, pulled weeds and picked up the trash. If more would offer it would not be too much for any
one family. Please consider giving an hour or two to help make the entry a nice place. This is what
your visitors see when they come to your home. Call 672-3192.
If you see trash on any of the gateways, please stop to pick it up.

May ONA Meeting Notes:
We would like to thank and congratulate Kim Rosillo for becoming our new secretary for the
Association. We are still in need of a Vice-President, could it be you? Please consider being a
part of the Board of your Association. ONA has five meetings a year ?– January, March, May, July
and September on the second Thursday of the month. ONA works for things like the gateways
that were put in over the last two years with grants to cover the costs of the beautifications. We
helped to get streets paved, as was done with Parker and others. We have more streets in need of
paving. ONA is all about neighbors helping neighbors improve where we live and make it a safer
place to raise a family or just live in. Please be a part and do your part to make Oakcliff a better
place to live.

National Night Out coming up ?– be prepared to turn on your porch light and join in the events on August 5th!!
Aug. 5th ?– 6:30PM to 8:30 PM - Oakcliff Church of the Nazarene ?– 3601 SE 59th on the playground next to Shalimar

This year will be a social. Come visit and meet your neighbors. We will fire up the grill and have Hot Dogs, Chips, desserts and cold drinks. If you make a really good dessert (cake, cookies, pie, whatever), bring it and share it. We will have door prizes. If the kids haven?’t had a chance to play on the playground, it will be a great time to do it. If you haven?’t renewed your ONA Membership or joined ONA, it is a good time to do it. Please come and join in the fun and meet your neighbors!!!!

Just a few things about National Night Out ?– 25th Annual NNO:
Over 35 million people in more than 11,000 communities from across the USA will join forces on August 5, 2008 to promote police-community partnerships, crime-drug and violence prevention, and neighborhood unity activities.
Locally, over 75 different neighborhood events, representing over 100,000 people will be involved in OKC's NNO events.
NNO promotes neighborliness and crime prevention. It is essential that all citizens be aware of the importance of crime prevention and how a simple thing such as getting to know your neighbors plays a big role in making your neighborhood a safer place.
City Council, Police Chief, Fire Chief, Mayor, State Reps, State Senators and other elected officials all go out and attend as many NNO activities as possible.

We need your help in planning the event and in working that evening cooking, serving, etc. Contact Bobbie Allen 670-6785 or Chris Schaeffer 672-3192 if you can help or want to donate anything.

YARD OF THE MONTH WE NEED YOUR HELP!
SPECIAL THANKS TO JAMES & TEE TOBLER FOR THEIR HELP WITH PICKING OUR YARD OF THE MONTH OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS. WE ARE IN NEED OF SOMEONE TO TAKE OVER FOR THEM. IS THIS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO?? SEND YOUR NAME, ADDRESS AND PHONE TO OUR PO BOX.
