CHANGES TO THE ACORN
We are going to bi-monthly meetings in 2005. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, February 1, 2005.
We will meet as an association in February, April, June, August, October and December. The Board of Directors may meet in the other months.
The Acorn will be issued on a bi-monthly basis also. It has become very difficult to hand deliver this newsletter. We really appreciate all the help we have received from the members and non-members who have faithfully delivered it for all these years. However, several have told me they can no longer deliver it. I checked with several other neighborhood organizations and find they mail their newsletters to PAID members.
I checked with Derby Printing and they will run 250 copies for $65. The cost of making the copies lies in preparing the master. Paper cost is minimal. 250 copies will give us plenty to send to paid members and the various metro officials, etc. we now mail a copy. Also it will give us enough so we can continue to have some at the Library, the Beechmont Community Center, and various businesses in our area. We are currently paying $105. for 1500 copies.
We have roughly 70 families as members. Individually the count is 136. This number includes persons who paid in 2003, but not for 2004. We will send these the first issue and ask if they intend to rejoin. If they do, we will continue to send it. If not, we will stop. Since we will mail one copy to a family, 250 copies should be ample. And the mailing cost will be mostly covered by the savings of dropping down to fewer copies.
This change will be announced in the December/January issue. The change is effective for the February/March issue.
