We would like to see some new members join our Oakforge Homeowner's board of directors and would like to encourage anyone with interest to contact Debbie Twitty with Elite Property Management. Her e-mail is debbie@elitepmgt.com
There are currently 6 board members (5 female and 1 male) making decisions for a community of 171 homes. We actually need an odd number of members to prevent ties in the voting process.
Each of the board members has about 3 years of term before they need to be re-elected. There are two of us on the board that have put in more than 6 years of our time on the board, and we really would like to see other homeowners volunteer to serve on the board.
What I have seen over the years, is that attendance to annual homeowner's meetings has been on the decline, and very few, to none of the attendees are willing to volunteer to serve on the board of directors.
In order to have a successful community, we need to have involvement from all the homeowners. Even if you don't wish to be on the board, little things like maintaining your yard, picking up trash in the street or common area, or even pulling weeds in comon areas or street is helpful. We also need to be on the lookout for suspicious activities (crime in process), and report them to the police.
We need everyone's help to keep this a desirable community. It shouldn't be the responsibility of just a few to keep things running.
Please think about what you, as a homeowner, can do to help.
