Old  51 CA Meeting Board Meeting on 11/7/2012

 

Present: Michael Madere,  Michael Wright (councilman Dist. 5); Lloyd Johnson; Jobe Boucvault; Cliff Hebert; Jackie Cupit;

                              P. Weber; Bev Mitter;

 

Absent:   Angel Torres

 

Michael Wright gave us an update on the debris problems and permits.

               He said these are still the two biggest problems facing St. John

Discussed the turn lane on New 51 to Old 51 (main St.) – has been approved therefore, now waiting on the project to begin which will be in a couple of months

 

Sunken Garden – Brian Burtran and the Young Marines have been working with homes that were flooded and hopefully will be back cleaning the flower beds around the flag pole and the crape myrtles.  Michael Wright said he would check on this.

 

A chain and lock needs to be put on gate at circle Drive – Michael Wright said he would follow up on this situation.

 

Frank’s and Warren’s Body shops on Main Street are breaking the Ordinance with the  number of cars parked off apron and number of cars in front of business – Michael Wright will follow up on this.

 

Michael Wright told us he would check on who is responsible for maintaining litter cans

 

Michael Wright is working on Peavine Boat Launch permit and upgrade

 

According to Michael Wright, the Assessor office indicated that homes that were flooded will be exempt from property taxes.

 

Michael Wright indicated that the Martin House on Old 51 will be torn down in a couple of months.  The work order was put in and it was approved.

 

Michael Wright is following up on upgrade of street signs on Old 51.  Some are bent and need to be straightened.

 

Everyone thanked Michael Wright for coming and for working with all of us on Old 51.

 

Meeting continued:

 

Christmas lights will again be put up around the Old 51 sign

 

The steering committee agreed that the membership dues for  2013 will not be collected because of the many homes that were flooded on Old 51. 

 

Together we can move forward to improve our neighborhood and parish and the Board is still working to improve Old 51 area.  Don’t forget to call a member of the steering committee with any problems you might see.

 

We are checking with VFW to have some meetings at this site.
