Old San Rafael Neighborhood Organization
Board of Directors Meeting
Minutes ?– July 16, 2002
In attendance: Donna De George, Ken Kyle, Mary Anne McNeil, Joe Pollara, Helen French, Kipp Lockwood, Nelson Bock, Paul Brothe, Jim Wiseman
Historic Designation: Jim Wiseman advised the group that an overlay district is not possible. The current wording for an overlay district is best suited to an R-4 district. San Rafael is R-3. The City will not entertain custom overlay language. Jim would like the neighborhood to submit for Denver Landmark designation. This would require broad support from the neighborhood ?– approximately 80-90% of households in favor. Jim has arranged for a representative from the Denver Planning Office ?– Historic Preservation, The State Historic Society and an independent private historic researcher to meet with the Board and discuss Landmark status. An application for funding is due October 5, 2002 to apply for a grant to help underwrite the cost of putting together the application. Topics for the meeting with the board will be: issues, logistics, funding, research, the application, impacts to neighbors, restrictions, and the review process. The Board members voted to have a meeting at Jim Wiseman?’s house ?– 2096 Emerson on July 30, 2002 at 6:45 p.m.
Elections: Nominations for Joe Pollara as President, Nelson Bock as Vice President and Paul Brothe as Secretary/Treasury were unanimously approved.
Committees: The board determined that the following committees would be formed and chaired by a member of the Board:
1. Communications and Promotions ?– Donna De George chair.
2. Safety ?– Ken Kyle chair.
3. Community Development ?– Mary Ann McNeil, Helen French, Ariel Gelman ?– chair to be determined.
4. Community Services ?– Kipp Lockwood chair.
5. Special Events ?– Paul Brothe chair.
Joe will prepare an outline of the basic committee responsibilities and functions.
National Night Out: Bonita Bock has organized San Rafael?’s National Night Out. It will take place at Marla and Leon Graber?’s - 2401 Emerson Street from 6:30 until 8:00. Refreshments will be served. A flyer will be distributed before the event to let people now the time and location. Bonita arranged for an article to appear in the Life newspaper. Information proposed at the get together is a sign up for working on committees, general information, and a list of board members. If Board members have ideas they should call Bonita 303-860-1467.
The next community meeting is scheduled for September 3, 2002, time and location to be determined.
The next Board meeting will be August 4, 2002 at Helen French?’s house, 2218 Emerson at 6:00 p.m.
