The Third Annual Olde Sawmill Landscape Contest is just around the corner!

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, qualified representatives from The Ohio Council of Landscape Design Critics will judge home landscapes in three categories?—front yard, back yard and specialty areas.

Specialty areas include, but are not limited to, decks, patios or porches with garden settings and rock, herb, nook or water gardens.

First Place, Second Place and Honorable Mention awards will be given in each category. Winners will be notified the day of the contest. Along with some great prizes from local merchants, OSCA will also place a sign in each winner?’s yard indicating the award they have won.

Judges will use four criteria to evaluate each landscape category?—first impression, design, use of flowers and overall maintenance.

There are very nice, well maintained landscapes within Olde Sawmill. Share your gardening with others by entering the landscape contest this year.

This contest is open to Olde Sawmill Civic Association members only. However, an OSCA Membership Form is included in this issue of the SCAN.

A Landscape Contest Entry Form (see page 3) must be completed and submitted to Pat Mason by June 24. Members may nominate their yard or any one of their neighbor?’s yard, or both. Unfortunately, 1999 contest winners are not eligible for this year?’s contest; however, they may enter their yard in the 2001 contest.

In addition, OSCA will again be hosting the Garden Tour where contest winners?’ landscapes will be showcased. The tour date is Sunday, July 23 from 2-5 p.m.
