In 2003, there was a sweeping election that ushered out a group of elected officials from the Pickerington City Hall that refused to listen or address the concerns of its citizens.
As a result of that election a new collective idea formed at the Pickerington City Hall. Those ideas ranged from addressing the sewer plant, widening Diley Road, getting agreements with the neighboring communities like Violet and Canal. Some of those agreement were aimed at economic development.
At first glance, I see only FOUR of these announced candidates willing to carry on and implement the promises and the programs started by the current majority in January of 2004. That majority could have been lost with a feeling of apathy.
The encouraging point of the recent newspaper announcements is that we will for sure lose one of the advocates for growth. So we must make sure Pickerington doesn't travel down the same path it did over a decade ago.
We need elected officials that first see the problems and then have the experience and desire to address those problems not someone trying to pad their resume for higher office.
Folks I am getting a good feeling here on only four of the announced candidates. I hope those four candidates are successful on November 8th.
