ORRD Press Release regarding Roshon Estates Issue

Ohioans for Responsible Rural Development (ORRD) regret that the residents of Liberty Township will not have their voices heard at the polls with regards to the proposed Roshon Planned Unit Development (PUD). However we understand and support Common Pleas Judge C. Martins decision.

Area residents have supported planned growth in our community for well over a decade. We will continue to ask the Township Trustees and Zoning Commission of Liberty Township to hear our voice: that we

favor growth, but not to the detriment of our community.

Two hundred homes on one hundred acres sound reasonable to most; however when thirty acres are deducted for green space and you take into account roads and throughways, the density becomes a larger issue.

Another application has been filed to build on the 74 acre Nicodemus farm, 141 homes. Make adjustments for roads and green space, again you have the making of a very crowded development. An Open Meeting is to be held September 7, 2004, 8:00P.M. at Liberty Union Middle School. PUD requests will continue to follow, and believe a third is in the planning stages, surely this will bring safety and support issues, traffic congestion and highway maintenance, water and sewer concerns. Overcrowded schools and increased request for tax levies become a primary concern as the cumulative effect of growth affects everyone.

We are committed to making sure that the voices of the Liberty Township residents are heard and that responsible rural development becomes a reality. Where is the Long Term Planning for Liberty Township?
