Bid to put Annexation Law on the Ballot FAILS

City of Pickerington Contributes over $148,000 to Effort so Far

Petitioners fighting Senate Bill 5 attempting to put it on the ballot have failed in their effort. They intend to continue to pursue the matter challenging the disqualification of signatures by several boards of elections, including Franklin County.

This Law is widely believed to give Townships and adjacent property owners more of a say during annexation decisions. It also requires notification of action to adjacent property owners which the old law did not.

The City of Pickerington contributed more than $148,000 of your tax dollars (SO FAR) to the $250,000 dollars the committee raised to fight this law. This level of contribution was FAR ABOVE any other municipality, including Columbus, who gave only $20,000 to the effort.
