“Technical Difficulties” with “EMEGENCY REZONING” for 380 more houses on the recently annexed Kohler – Painter Farmland.
A related Columbus Dispatch article is posted as a link to this issue.
For those of you that remember the 1999 election, a similar situation is brewing for the next domino to fall in the process to keep annexing land and alter current land use to yet another subdivision.
Before the Fall election of 1999 the former Diley Farm was a hot issue. To reduce the heat ….. City Council incumbents delayed any action on the pre-annexation agreement toward rezoning of those 245 acres to PR4. Only after securing the re-election of those incumbents, with a vote on December 7, 1999, did the march to add 520 additional residential units proceed. Council completed this process about 7 weeks ago via “Emergence” just as they had started it in 1999.
Same shell game – same results. You be the judge! The Service Committee of the Pickerington City Council will now “discuss” the “Technical Difficulties” of this rezoning. Their meeting is open to the public – Thursday September 13th at 7:30 pm in City Hall. The members of the Service Committee are; Craig Maxey (Chairman), Doug Parker, and John Washington. Mr. Maxey and Mr. Parker are currently running for re-election to the seats they now hold.
This same Sub-Committee had previously approved the re-zoning issue to appear on the last full Council agenda (Sept. 4th) as “Emergency Legislation”. For this approval to even get to the Service Committee it had to go through the City of Pickerington’s Planning and Zoning Commission, where Mr. Parker also holds a voting seat.
Council “tabled” the Kohler – Painter issue on the 4th – sending it back to Service Committee.
