Huntington Hills Residents Consider Sewage Treatment Options

Results of Resident's Ballots

Huntington Hills residents recently were asked to consider options regarding sewage treatment needs for their community (and the surrounding area).

A steering committee of Huntington Hills members gathered information from both Fairfield County Utilities and the City of Pickerington and presented this information to a vote of their residents.

Options included:

1. Having Fairfield Utilities locate a new regional sewage plant on a site in the Stemen Road Area and demolishing the old facility located near the Pool/Park site.
2. Constructing a new facility in the proximity of the old plant at the Pool/Park site. Thereupon, demolishing the old facility.
3. Seeking sewage services from the City of Pickerington, as they construct a 24” main sewage line from the south. (This option would have presented the possibility of future annexations by the City into Northeastern Violet Township) Yet, a lower construction overhead and gravity feed system.

All options have their positives and negatives.

The results of the ballots of Huntington Hills residents were:

71% supported the location of a new Fairfield County regional plant in the Stemen Site.
23% supported the replacement plant at the Pool/Park site.
6% supported sewage service from the City of Pickerington.

Implementation of their decisions will commence shortly. It is important to note that continued citizen participation within this area (and others) is important in future decisions related to potential growth and development.
