Park Place Civic Association Meeting Minutes


09/09/99 (7:30 - 9:00p.m.)

MEETING RECAP

I. Welcome /Introductions

II. Old Business
· Handout August 5th PPCA minutes, meeting agenda, and members list,
· Bylaws are complete, with changes made, needs notarized. Sue Focarett will ask her husband to notarize.

III. New Business
1. Jay Barnes/Treasurer reported:
· We have no money, no dues to date.
· He will create vouchers for dues paid.
2. Dues:
· Jay Barnes passes out information to members showing expensed that could be used with dues. The information shows how many expensed we could cover with different voted upon dues amount.
· Norman Deena suggest voting member to pay the voted upon amount of dues, and that we also take donations to be a supporter of the PPCA. Melinda Alic brings this issue to a vote, majority vote.
· Amount of dues brought to floor for a vote.
$10.00 - Vote was 0
$15.00 - Vote was 0
$20.00 - Vote was 17
$25.00 - Vote was 3
Vote in as $20.00 for dues - 2 votes per household, 21 years old to vote, and must be present to vote.
· How to collect dues - Majority voted for Area Representatives to go out with info and vouchers to their area. Will plan an Area Rep. Meeting.
3. Next PPCA meeting on October 7th 7:30 at Holy Redeemer church.
4. Sue Focarett /Traffic and Safety Committee reports:
· Street lighting - Areas 1 through 6 do not have street lighting. Cost of $700 per household to install. Homeowner could make payments over a course of set number of years. City has plans to put overhead street lighting by the year 2020.
· Stop signs and Kids at Play signs - We must first put in customer complaints, give beginning and ending points of traffic, and survey deems that we have enough traffic. Traffic and Safety will check with county and township to proceed.
· Tornado Siren - Warning siren not in our range. Traffic and Safety was told that anywhere between months and 15 years before one was to be added for our area. We feel it is a safety issue with Tussing Elementary not hearing siren. Traffic and Safety will continue working on this issue.
· Sexual Predator living in this area - Committee felt that law did not notify us properly. Norman will call Franklin and Fairfield counties to check on why we were not notified, so that in the future we will receive the proper notification.
5. Melinda Combs gave copies of each section's deeds to Phillip Calogera, Melinda Alic will ask Phillip for them and make them available to PPCA.
6. Katie Brummett and Faye Johnson/Welcome Wagon Committee:
· Katie and Faye met and they gathered some information and presented it to PPCA, they will continue to gather information and look for donations from area businesses to present to new homebuyers in our area.
· Melinda Combs runs a report everyday that gives closing dates and names of buyers. She will give the welcome wagon committee the information for home sales in Park Place.
7. Ann Chenetski/Newsletter Committee:
· Newsletter committee not sure of which direction PPCA would like to go and need more PPCA feedback before they can proceed.
· Melinda Combs will totally pay for newsletter, but will be the only Realtor advertised in newsletter. PPCA agrees to, and thanks Melinda.
8. TAC "Pride in Pickerington" needs volunteers.
9. Richard Hunt, a PPCA resident is running for Pickerington school board. He spoke a few minutes about himself and you may reach him at 759-6706, or Email him at RICHNSHER@copper.net.
10. PPCA will meet October and November, skip December and January and then resume meetings again in February.
11. Greg Rich offered to become our Audit Committee, thanks Rich!

IV. Closing Remarks, Comments & Suggestions
· Area Representative will schedule a meeting this month to get membership drive moving. Melinda asked that the other committees try and schedule a meeting to get the ball rolling for their committees.
