About Transplants

Transplants Women’s Club is a neighborhood club not directly affiliated with PCHA, although both organizations work to mutually support one another. Transplants received its unusual name years ago when a group of families, facing a corporate relocation to Texas from another state, purchased homes in Parkway Central. Those women, a bit homesick, came together as “transplants” in this, their new neighborhood. Originally established in 1974 to enable women of the neighborhood some familiar companionship, the club has since put down deep roots. Transplants has grown to include nearly 70 neighborhood women who come together monthly to renew old friendships, make new ones and simply have fun together through mutually shared activities.

The club meets in neighborhood homes on the first Tuesday of each month from September through May. Half of the gatherings are in the morning, the other half in the evening. Program subjects are varied, ranging from book reviews, to health matters, to cooking, crafts, gardening, decorating, financial planning, flower arranging and much more. Each year, club members enjoy a field trip to an area attraction, occasional luncheons and special events at Christmas and in the Spring.

The club’s meetings are informal, dues are nominal and all past and present Parkway Central residents are welcome. If you would like to join, contact club liaison listed below. You will be glad you did.
