The night of August 1st, in Parkwood was filled with fun excitement, music and neighbors meeting neighbors. With approximately 250 people in attendance, including the poice department's high echelon, the fire department, and political candidates, this first annual picnic was the first community activity in Parkwood in many years. Area residents brought blankets, lawn chairs and was entertained by C.R. Scott, who played current hits and was also impressive with his jazz selections. If you missed this affair, please stay tuned because we will staged another picnic next August. Special thanks to the organizing committee - Ms. Peggy Petty, Connie Shannon, Nikita Baskerville, Bill Venson, and Clarence Banes. Also, kudos to the many persons who volunteered their time to make the picnic run smoothly. Thanks to Carmen & Wendell Turner, Bobbie Loftin, Wm. Bodenhammer, Wilbert Martin, Nikita Baskerville, and Wm. Young. Also, we'll like to express our gratitude to Pam Fletcher who was our clown for this event.
