Samoa Peninsula Fire District News

Apr 19, 2005

The SPFD (Samoa Peninsula Fire District) hosted an Easter egg hunt this on the Saturday morning before Easter. Children of Samoa, Fairhaven, and Manila were present when the Easter bunny showed up with candy to give out.

The fire district still needs volunteers. We will consider all applicants even if they are not living in our district as long as they are close enough to respond when needed. Manila is in the Arcata fire district boundary however our district does respond to most calls on the Peninsula. SPFD will host a community barbeque this spring to recruit volunteers.

Also, there is space in the resident program for volunteers who are looking at fire service for a career. The resident program is where the trainee lives at the Fairhaven Station. It is a great program for college students who want to pursue careers in emergency services. The district provides training in exchange for living space and station duty time, which is on a rotating schedule. For more information call chief Durfee or the resident coordinator Troy Nicolini at 443-9042.
