It?’s time to stoke up the grill for summer cookouts. You are welcome to grill out at Pineville Forest, but there are a couple simple rules you need to follow which are actually set by the City of Pineville and Mecklenburg County:
All grills must be 10 feet or more from the unit and from any combustible material. Hot ashes from charcoal grills should be extinguished and disposed of properly.
Now that you know the ground rules, here?’s a great recipe to get you started. It?’s an old family favorite from Wisconsin, where people only have 2 weeks a year to grill out!
Beef Kabobs
1 ?½ lbs. Sirloin, cut thick
?½ c. syrup from canned peaches
?¼ c. soy sauce
?½ c. sherry wine
?½ c. salad oil
?¾ t. powdered ginger
1/8 t. garlic powder
2 T instant minced onion
Salt & pepper to taste
Cut meat in 2?” squares. Reserve some of the marinade to use during cooking. Soak in marinade 2 hours or more in refrigerator (overnight is ok). Skewer meat chunks on metal skewers. Broil, turning frequently, using a brush to marinate while broiling. Done in about 10 minutes.
