April 18th Meeting

Neighbor-to-Neighbor Report:

1. Very little to report other than the Graffiti spree. Which was reported by several people.

Goal for next meeting:

1. Get a stop sign at 38th Street and Bloomfield. Kim will work on this.

2. Look into funding for paint and neighborhood clean-ups. Darren

3. Update Contact list and web site. Kim

City Report: Barbara Gonzales from City Services spoke on how to organize to get funding for neighborhood improvements like clean-ups, helping neighbors, landscaping common areas and so on.

2. She recommended we apply, as a neighborhood organization in order to be eligible for city funding that may be available in January 2010.
3. We can get a dumpster for a neighborhood clean up
4. We can get tools and paint for improvements
5. She offered tips on how to raise money to make up for short falls
6. Group discussed having a table at the farmers market to generate awareness of our Neighborhood group. We need volunteers.
7. Darren is a painter who lives in our neighborhood who has initiated getting our exterior fence painted. The fence runs from the wash on 40th Street south to Cactus and from 40th Street west to 36th Street on Cactus. There is an estimate of 55 gallons of paint, which would normally cost about $1200. We are working on get some of it supplied from the city but may have to do a fundraiser to make up the short fall. If anyone has contacts or ideas to help meet this goal let us know. The hope is to plan it for November 2009 if we can get some paint from the city. Volunteers are need for prep work, getting the word out and fundraising. More discussion at our next meeting.
8. Next meeting. Due to summer holidays, our next meeting will be the second week in August 6th, 6:30 at 3838 E. Bloomfield Road. Main topics painting fence and beautifying common areas.
