Neighborhood Block Watch
August 6, 2009

Neighbor-to-Neighbor Report:

Paint The Wall:
The cost for painting the perimeter wall on 40th Street from the Wash to Cactus and on Cactus from 40th Street to 36th Street is approximately $2300 - $2500. We have a painter in our community who will donate the equipment and supervision, but we need to come up with money for paint and the labor to run the paint sprayer. We may be able to get city money through a neighborhood grant application in January.

o Thoughts for fundraising: Community Yard Sale, Bake Sale at Roadrunner Park Market, and Pancake Breakfast in the neighborhood.

o Volunteers needed for: Painting prep, Assistance during painting and a gathering place to celebrate afterwards, fundraisers for door-to-door and garage sale or bake sale.

o Kim will contact Roadrunner Park about space in the weekend market.

o Thought: Do we need a bank account and treasurer?

Neighborhood Clean up:
o Organize the Neighborhood clean up in November. Dates to come when the city can schedule the dumpster, tools and supervision.

o We need a list of houses to help out, so make a note for the September meeting.

o Fliers will go out to encourage participation and ask if anyone NEEDS help.

o If you have neighbors who might be interested please talk it up we could use a few more volunteers.

o Does anyone know a Scout/School/Church Youth group looking to do volunteer work? Maybe we can get them involved too.

o Does anyone know a landscaper who might be able to get deals on plants and gravel?
