Minutes - Pleasant View Social Club (25 September 2008)

Oct 07, 2008

The Pleasant View Social Club (PVSC) Board of Directors (BOD) met at the home of Kurt and Rita Hufford on September 25, 2008. Michelle Waggener, President; Kurt Hufford, Vice President; Jim Weilbrenner, Secretary; Walter Reiss, Treasurer; and Sam Hartman, At-Large Director were present. Michelle Waggener opened the meeting at 7:00 PM. The following topics were discussed:

?• The main topic was the Annual Fall Meeting. It will be held from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Sun Hills Fire Station. Sam Hartman is the chairman of this event. Presentations will be given by the Donald E. Wescott Fire District and the El Paso County Sheriff, Terry Maketa. The County Commissioner, Mr. Wayne Williams, may arrive late after speaking to the Northern El Paso County Coalition of Community Associations at 10:00 AM that same day.
o The Donald E. Wescott Fire District has received a $2M grant for a fire mitigation plan.
o A request has been received for a PVSC member to discuss anonymous notes that he has received regarding the appearance of his property and negative impact to surrounding property values at the Annual Fall Meeting. The PVSC BOD voted to not allow the individual to address the membership as it was a ?“personal?” issue. The President will address the topic of property maintenance in general terms and also ask residents to speak to each other about any concerns versus leaving anonymous notes (without mentioning specific notes, their contents, or recipients).
o The business meeting will follow the speakers and consist of the annual BOD election, remarks from the PVSC president, and general discussion/questions. A free (for PVSC members) luncheon will follow the business meeting.
o All of the current BOD have volunteered to serve another term. Jim Weilbrenner will prepare the election ballot so indicating and allowing write-in candidates for each position. He will also conduct the election portion of the business meeting.
o A sign-in desk to verify membership, to register new members, and to collect $3.00 per non-member attending the meeting will be set-up and manned by Jim Weilbrenner. $10 will be charged for membership for the remainder of the current year.
o A budget of $225 was approved by the BOD for the Annual Fall Meeting. It will be used to purchase drinks (coffee, cocoa, cider, and soda), a vegetable tray and dip, ingredients for chili, cookies, utensils, cups, plates, and ice.
o Sam Hartman will check to ensure tables and chairs are available.
o Michelle Waggener will prepare the chili.
o Michelle Waggener will send out an email reminding PVSC members of the Annual Fall Meeting.
o Several volunteers will be used to assist in preparations for the meeting.
?• A successful Ice Cream Social was held September 4, 2008 at Fox Run Park with approximately 35 people attending and several new memberships obtained.
?• A Halloween Costume Party will be held 7:00-9:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Sun Hills Fire Station?—free for PVSC members and $2 for non-members.
?• A Pot Luck Dinner will be held 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, December 8 at the Sun Hills Fire Station.
?• The next newsletter will be prepared in November for delivery in December 2008.
?• A holiday decorations contest will be held in December 2008.
?• Linda Kean has volunteered to chair the Welcoming Committee. The BOD agreed to invite her to attend its meetings.
?• Various bills were paid.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.
