A portion of Makiki, Downtown Honolulu, Punchbowl, Liliha, Pauoa Valley, Nuuanu, Alewa Heights, Papakolea, Kalihi Valley, and a portion of Kalihi.
ABOUT THE CANDIDATE:
• Carl is a long time resident of Hawaii and has moved & lived in Chinatown/Downtown Honolulu since 1988.
• Carl SUPPORTS affordable homes and apartment rentals, emergency transitional housing, restroom facilities, for the Chinatown/Downtown community.
• Carl has always been a strong advocate to address homelessness issues.
• Carl is AGAINST anything anti-small-business.
• Carl is in strong support for returning the benches back to Fort Street Mall for Senior Citizen’s and others comfort to rest while conducting business in Chinatown/Downtown.
• Carl is a strong supporter of President Barack Obama’s shovel-ready Public Works Programs!!!
• Carl strongly supports President Barack Obama’s economic stimulus package programs!!!
• Carl SUPPORTS Honolulu City Council Bill Number 35 and New Number 59, which only allows legitimate bus riders to occupy seats on the bus bench. Under this bill, and law, non-riders lying and sleeping on the bus bench would be illegal!!!
LEGISLATIVE PARTICIPATION:
• In December 2003, Carl authored the original Urination and Defecation Bill (HB 1828), also known as, “Carl's Shi-Shi Law”.
• For the past Twenty-five (25) years Carl has researched legislative issues, wrote and submitted testimonies for legislation consideration, testified at many committee hearings, visited both Senate and House Chambers, to listened and observed the political process.
COMMUNITY & VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
• Was a volunteer at Institute for Human Services (IHS) (1981), River of Live Mission (ROLM) (1998) and Kau-Kau Wagon (2001), etc.
• Attended and participated with the Chinatown/Downtown Neighborhood Board Thirteen (13) since February 1990; was elected to the Chinatown/Downtown board and has served from March 2005 to the present.
• On July 3, 2008, Carl was elected Chinatown/Downtown Neighborhood Board Secretary.
EMPLOYMENT:
Resident Manager and Small Business Owner.
