Central Business District

January 2011 CBD Newsletter

The Central Business District is growing and vibrant still during the month of January 2011.  The following are updates on various projects and things of interest for our neighbors in the downtown area.

Utah County Convention Center.  The convention center project is out of the ground on the block between Center Street and 100 North and 200 West to 300 West.  Construction updates can be found at the Utah Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau site.  Keep up to date with this project which will change the face of downtown Provo.

NuSkin expansion.  NuSkin is expanding its corporate headquarters and has recently reviewed plans in a neighborhood meeting.  This article from the Daily Herald shows photos and gives a recent update on the company's expansion plans, which will close 100 West between Center Street and 100 South.

Provo Tabernacle Fire.  A fire on December 17 destroyed the interior of the historic Provo Tabernacle in downtown Provo.  Long a community gathering place, the Tabernacle was a true landmark in our neighborhood.   The Daily Herald has created a website dedicated to the memory of the Tabernacle and the ongoing story into the investigation and decisions yet to be made by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns the building and property, about rebuilding or replacing the building.  Another site at www.provotabernacle.org gives much historical data and images about the Tabernacle.
