Garbage Policies

In the last issue, we published some incorrect information regarding the garbage policy. We apologize for the error. Please observe the following rules and requests:


 Put hypodermic needles into a plastic milk jug with a lid before placing them in the trash. BFI will not pick up your trash if they discover loose needles or other dangerous materials.


 Please have your garbage out before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays. If there is no garbage in your cans during that day?’s collection, BFI will not make a special trip to pick up your garbage. It will be picked up at the next scheduled pickup time.


 Leave large boxes or stacks of boxes on the curb rather than at the garbage cans. Break down all boxes. Smaller boxes may be placed at or in the cans. Do not place items on the curb until after 5:00 p.m. the day before pickup.


 Putting garbage into plastic garbage bags before putting it into your garbage can will make garbage cleanup faster and safer as well as keeping the neighborhood cleaner. Please use cans with locking lids to discourage dogs.


 Bulk items including appliances can be picked up by calling Metro at 862-8971. There is no charge for this service. Items must be placed on the curb before pickup.
