Many of us are familiar with the odors we smell in our neighborhoods. However, many of us do not know what to do when there is an odor in the air.
The Air Pollution Control Board has an odor hotline you can call when you detect an odor.
This is what you do:
1. Contact the Air Pollution Control
Board at 574-6000. If you call
after hours, you will be instructed
to call an additional number in case
of an emergency. Call the number.
2. Document the call. What time did
you call? What time did you get a return call? Who did you speak to? What was said during the conversation? What was said during the conversation
3. Contact REACT and let us know that an odor was reported. Provide us with documentation of the call.
A day after you have reported the odor, contact the Air Pollution Control District and request a written copy of the report.
When you receive the report, share the findings with REACT.
