As delineated by the Constitution of The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Richlawn is a
?“sixth class?” city since the population is less than 1,000. Currently there are 199 homes
located within the Richlawn city limits.
Since we are a sixth class city our form of government as prescribed by the Kentucky
Revised Statutes is that of a five person City Commission including an elected mayor and four
elected commissioners. Other city officials, as required by the Statutes to be appointed, include
the City Clerk & Treasurer. The commission also appoints a Property Improvements Committee
and an Ethics Committee. Additionally, the City hires its own City Attorney for legal matters.
The City Commission meets at Old National Bank on the corner of Hubbards Lane and Shelbyville
Road on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The City Commission meetings are open and residents are welcome to attend.
