Street Narcotics Unit ?“Raiders?”

This unit is responsible for all street level narcotics enforcement in the City. Its priorities are responding to reported narcotics complaints and reducing part one crimes by identifying the correlation between street narcotics distribution and crime patterns. We encourage our residents to communicate directly with the detective assigned to their geographical area. Using resources and information provided by residents, street narcotics detectives address drug related concerns.

If you see something, say something is the Special Investigations’ campaign to encourage City residents to report information pertaining to the above mentioned criminal activities. Through our partnership with the Broward Crime Stoppers Unit we ask that you contact the Special Investigations Division at (954) 828-5661 or Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-8477. Remember, you can always remain anonymous!

(to report graffiti on public property)

There is nothing good about graffiti. Although some of it may be artistic, it is still a very serious crime and will degrade any community.

Graffiti has an adverse impact on a community. It is a symbol of disorder. It sends a message that crime and disorderly conduct are tolerated.

New families will not move into an area affected by graffiti. Businesses suffer monetary losses where graffiti is present prospective customers are discouraged by such signs of decay.

The city of Fort Lauderdale has a municipal ordinance to address graffiti. The property owner MUST remove all graffiti within 24 hours of occurrence.

According to the "broken windows" theory, a disorderly appearance can actually lead to more crime. If a neighborhood shows signs of disorder, such as graffiti, broken windows, or neglected property, then criminals may feel comfortable committing more serious crimes.

It is vital for every community to eradicate graffiti as soon as it appears. The message that will be sent by removing graffiti immediately, is that vandalism and other crimes will NOT be tolerated.

Do not let graffiti be a message in your neighborhood. Eradicate it today! If you see graffiti, report it immediately. If you are the victim of this type of vandalism, remove it from your property as soon as possible.

Get CERT-ified!

Emergency personnel cannot always immediately access your neighborhood following a major disaster. However, you can make a lifesaving difference by learning the necessary skills needed to survive the immediate aftermath of a hurricane, tornado, fire, flood or other major disaster in a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) eight-week course offered by the Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue Department.

CERT is an eight-week course, offered at no charge to City of Fort Lauderdale residents, that provides hands-on training that will enable you to initiate and implement learned disaster rescue techniques, which can be utilized until emergency personnel are able to reach you.

CERT course participants learn life-saving skills such as fire suppression, patient evaluation, search and rescue and basic emergency medical care for everyday situations.
