A new tool used by the Police Department is the Neighborhood Notifier. Its main purpose is to be able to dial a thousand numbers in 30 minutes to issue important alerts within a specific area such as evacuations and searches for missing persons. The system also permits neighborhood residents to call in to receive a recorded message pertaining to their Neighborhood Watch area. Our Crime Boss [Neighborhood Watch captain David Withers] will record messages on the system to communicate information on neighborhood safety that you need to be aware of. You can access the message by dialing 733-1837. When prompted enter the ID number for RAN which is 28. This system has been delayed due to technical difficulties, and there is no guarantee that such difficulties will not linger on into the future. Updated information will be available on the RAN website in the event changes are made to the system. Please remember to notify David Withers of any crime or safety related problems that you are aware of so that we can pass this information along.
The Metropolitan Police Department website at http://www.police.nashville.org in the “What’s New” section will now permit you to search for recovered property. You must know the serial number or other numbers you may have etched onto the stolen property. In the case of an automobile, you will need the VIN number. If the property has been recovered you will receive an immediate response with a telephone number to call for additional information.
