It's that time of year again when the roof rats are back! These are not your cute little Mickey and Minnies, OH NO, These are up to 18 inches long and intimidated by the kitty!
It is much easier to rat proof your house before it becomes an issue than to try to rid your house of these pests!
Roof Rats HAVE been spotted in our Neighborhood, so here are some waring signs to look for:
1. Hollowed out citrus, especially still on the tree
2. Gnaw marks around roof eaves
3. Unsettled pets
4. Droppings (elongated 1/4 inch long)
5. Sounds in the attic and walls
6. Damage to plastics and electrical wires
What to do to secure your property:
1. Seal any access into the house (a rat can get in if a hole is the size of a quater!)
2. Thin and manicure lush landscape
3. Eliminate food and water sources
4. Set out and maintain traps and/or poison bait stations (Available at Tempe tack & Feed, on University just west of Hardy)
5. Inform your immediate neighbors of the problem
