Roseblossom Trails

Notes from August 28, 2005 meeting

Short notice meeting

First, let me apologize for the short notice of this meeting. It was basically to see what the availability of residents would be on a weekend.

We met at 6pm after putting flyers on peoples doors and mailboxes. We had just a few new neighbors show and they are the following: Brian Menonca and his wife who live on Pristine, Earl and Deb Mearing who live on Sunsprite, John Jackson who lives on Sonia and John Reynolds who lives on Casper. Thanks for coming on such short notice. Others in attendance included: Cecil Followell (Sonia), Kitty and Jerry Roush (Sonia), Sharon Harris-Baker (Casper) and Brandi Solomon (Sunsprite).

Speeding Concern in the Neighborhood

We discussed some of the options available to us. At this point we are going to start with a petition to put some stop signs along the problem roads and make them 3-way stops. These would be most likely on the corner of Casper and Grandessa and then the corner of Pristine and Sunsprite. This will help break up the flow on these problem streets. I will hopefully be hearing back from the Traffic Services Department with the Road Commission in the next couple of days. That will really help us with our options also.

I have something that I came across on the internet that I got a quote for that I think could be a good deterrent but we need more input from residents. For two of these units to go up it would cost less than $100 a home. The general opinion at the meeting last night though was to save it as a last resort. The general opinion on speedbumps last night was that they were not wanted either. I have printouts of the device that I discussed. If you would like to have a copy please contact Brandi Solomon.

Next Meeting in September

We are also going to hold the next meeting at the end of September on a Sunday night. I think if we try a different night we might get more involvement. General reaction to this meeting was it was a good time but not enough notice which is understandable. I just wanted to see if I would get a good response or not. We are going to plan a potluck block party/meeting. Hopefully this will entice more people to attend and not necessarily discuss the speed issue in depth but make them aware of what we are trying to do and let them know that the following month we will be holding our monthly meeting to discuss the issue. The hope is that by meeting neighbors face to face they may be more inclined to attend future meetings.

This event will take place on September 25th which is a Sunday between 5pm and 7pm.(Rain date would be the following Sunday.) This will allow parents to get their kids ready for bed since it will be a school night. We will have different activities for the kids to participate in while the parents can informally meet.

Please write this date on your calendars so you can plan on attending. The location will be disclosed once determined.
