The best partnership projects have several characteristics in common. These are elements Professor Saul Rubenstein (Rutgers University) says are key:
*Strategic alignment centering on your community goals (with these goals develop a plan).
*Communications networks that connect people from top to bottom and across coalitions.
*Collaborative structures at all organizational levels.
*Capacity for training and skills development.
*Strong lesdership traits among all parties involved; and
*Institutionalized goals.
Members of successful and strong coalitions need certain skill sets to make them work. The groups should have the ability to share power and influence at both the operating and strategy setting levels of the endeavor. This is how we work "together" to make a difference.
