Dear Member,
Show your support for the Community in which you live. The nation has had inspirational massages from Barack Obama that have united and inspired so many Americans. He brings people together by speaking out with courage on issues that resonate in our hearts. Call me idealistic, but I feel we all have common ground and we (Americas) can all work together in unique ways. I invite you to think in a new way about your community and help us help you. Support the RHCA efforts to subscribe to The President's heartfelt messages.
YOU are the first line of contact between RHCA and the powers that be. We urge individuals who have the time and are committed to their community to take a stand on important issues.
Join the Letter of the Month Club
RHCA encourages member to do a letter writing campaign. The first step of this campaign is to call 311 about the physical conditions of our neighborhood. I know you have seen the despicable conditions in front of Abbott Park on 95th Street (standing water, pot holes, sinking curbs). RHCA wants each and every member to call 311 and report to The Department of Streets and Sanitation or the Department of Transportation, not to just fix the pot holes, but to repair the street and sewer. Request that this threat to public safety be repaired now. If nothing is done by the end of this month we will start to email elected officials about unfair treatment to our community.
Contact Information
1. Call to report conditions. *Always document communications. Keep a written record of the conversation: the date called, time and response from staff (who?). Be sure to get a reference number for issue about which you are calling. If the issue is not resolved in a timely manner call again (refer to your notes. "I called (date) and was told...by... that). You may also enter a service request at website www.cityofchicago.org.
2. Call another community resident tell them to call 311 and have them call another resident and so on; if your block has a phone tree activate it.
3. Make a decision to devote some time and energy to call 311. In the end both you (the individual who is calling), the residents who are being served by your call, the community, and your life all benefit from the commitment that you have made. We can do this!
Thank You
