06/98 - Report from Officer Nick Groves

Jul 07, 1998

The police is now working out of another new store front at 1212 South Federal. There is another new Lt. Tony Lions. Graffiti is still a large problem in our neighborhood. They are looking for participation to clean things up. The belief is that the quicker things are cleaned up the less it will be put back. It is a sad state that we have to pay the price for another person1s crime, but right now it is the only 3real2 solution available.

Fireworks are not the highest priority...since approximately 70% of the people shoot off fireworks, it is not an easy law to enforce. If there are problems or unsupervised juveniles the police will take action. Since Denver is the only city with strict laws, it makes it nearly impossible to enforce the law.

There is not curfew on noise or fireworks, you can not make excessive noise or shoot off fireworks at any time. If you have problems call the police and they will go talk to your neighbors about the problem.

Drinking in the park is not permitted, however, like other laws, it is difficult to enforce the laws. It is not enforced all the time, and it is up the discretion of the officer to make a citation.
