SNAPP Minutes for Feb17,2011

Meeting called to order at 6:20 p.m.

President / Chairperson not in attendance due to illness.

Pima County Supervisors Office Report: Malena Barajas--  Housing Assistance Office to open in April.  Grand opening to be held in June.

There will be space for the local neighborhood association and also a meeting room that can be used by all neighborhood associations for events.

TPD Report:  Sgt Marty Broderick: Graffiti more prevalent during the nicer weather.  Report on activity in the Southside including a possible assault at Wal-Mart that may or may not have happened, and update on murders in the area.

Elections: 

        Treasurer--Maggie Gerring  (South Park) Maggie nominated

        Secretary--David Densmore (Elvira) Dave nominated

        Vice President--Maureen Fisher (Cherry Ave) Maureen & 

                                                                              Beryl Baker nominated

        President--Joe Miller(Midvale) Joe & Sandra Fimbres                                                                                                                  nominated

Neighborhoods voting in Elections were: Cherry Ave; Midvale; Elvira; SCSW; Pueblo Gardens; South Park; Bravo Park Lane.  Also in attendance was Barrio Kroger Lane but not voting in elections.

Treasurers Report:  Maggie Gerring--Balance--$691.07 (SNAPP = $154.27; CPC Grant = $300.67; & Town Hall Grant = $236.13)

Liquor License Report:  Sandra Fimbres--AZ Express Liquor. City Council voted 7-0 against this but state granted liquor license.  They will do home deliveries.

Legislative Report:  Legislature is trying to reduce the number of months for the use of interlocking devise for DUI

Ward One Report: Amy Santos--held Beat Back Buffelgrass event on 2/5/11.

Sponsoring cleanup of Mission Rd on the last Friday of every month to beat back buffelgrass & pick up trash in the area around Starr Pass and Mission Rd.

El Rio Neighborhood Center hosting a Health Fair on 3/5/11 located at 1390 W Speedway Blvd from 10:00 a.m. to noon.  Wellness for the entire family.  Questions call 791-4683

Graffiti Abatement 792-CITY option #2 to report graffiti.

Other:  Maggie Gerring reported that P&R SW District office is now located at Quincie Douglas Center.  They will be able to hold neighborhood meetings there again...for more information if space is needed contract Reenie Ochoa @ 791-4873.

Grant Writing Seminar at Ward 6 on 2/25/11 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
