Meet your . . . New City Council Representative - Lynette Self
Lynette Self takes office July 1, 1999, representing Jacksonville's GreaterArlington/Beaches area in City Council District 2.
She is 45, a native of Jacksonville, graduated from Englewood High School, is married and the mother of two children and the owner of Rose of Sharon European Florists. She is a newcomer to politics, but has headed the zoning committees for several neighborhood groups and has pushed for a regional park by gathering petitions and lobbying the council. Lynette got her first glimpse of how city government works when a developer tried to put a duplex next to her single-family neighborhood in Clifton. She's been working on zoning issues ever since.
We congratulate Lynette on her win and look forward to working with her. Telephone:(904) 630-1329 E-mail: lself@coj.net
Meet your . . . Neighborhood Police Officer, Officer Brad Smith
Officer Brad Smith has been a resident of Jacksonville for 25 years and is one of the (JSO) law enforcement officers assigned to the Sandalwood area. He has been patrolling Sandalwood for three years. His family lives at the Beaches and his favorite hobby is fishing.
Brad is familiar with our area problems and eager to help solve them. He generously gave of his time and expertise at our May 20th meeting and will try to get us some neighborhood crime statistics.
Give Brad a friendly wave -- he and his fellow officers are always there watching out for us, protecting our lives and property and ready to help, whether we're going about our daily business or sleeping comfortably behind locked doors.
Meet your . . . Neighborhood Mailman, Tim Stoinoff
Tim Stoinoff is one of three mailmen in the Sandalwood area. He graduated from Lee High School in 1963 and worked for the shipyards for many years. He then went to work for the post office and has been delivering our mail for five years. He says he won't ever leave until they come to carry him off! He loves being outdoors and his route and it shows in the concern he feels about the neighborhood. Tim knows everyone by name and keeps an eye on the safety of children and homes in the area.
When asked if there was a way for us to help with mail service, Tim said, "if you get incorrectly addressed mail, call the post office before redirecting it, so that they are aware of the problem".
Thanks, Tim, for cheerfully delivering the mail rain or shine!
