President’s report: (written report from George)
-Non profit status. Approved by IRS. Steve Richards is researching what reports are now due, if any.
-Water Quality. Alejandro has volunteered to attend the next public workshop about the Santa Monica Bay Beaches Wet Weather Bacteria TMDL implementation plan. The workshop will take place on August 12 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am at the Hyperion Treatment Plant in the Pregerson Building, 1st. floor Conference Room, 12000 Vista del Mar, Playa del Rey. If anyone else can attend, please RSVP: Contact Wing Tam, City of Los Angeles Watershed Protection Division, at 323-342-1574. Greg Willis will be attending a meeting on August 5th. He reported his views on the pollution at Chautauqua.
-Trees @San Lorenzo and Entrada. If we want trees put in to replace the two sycamores destroyed in the crash on Oct. 30, an appeal to the Board of Public Works will be required. The trees were put in by Ira Yellen, apparently without the necessary permit and the parkway is too narrow according to the Street Use Inspector, Karen Bowie-the new tree at 207 Entrada appears to be in a narrow parkway. I forwarded this info to the neighbor who asked when the trees will be replaced. Quentin will talk with neighbor to see whether or not they would like a tree planted there.
-Park Improvement Project. Corresponded with City Engineer to verify timing and identify project manager. Alice Gong, who designed much of the project, will continue as project supervisor. The site manager has not been designated yet, but there is a meeting this week to find out. I told the City Engineer we wanted to have the site manager at our next board meeting on September 14. Work is still scheduled to start on September 7. Cross your fingers.
-Trimming of Trees Next to Pool. The city wants to trim trees next to the pool to reduce leaf drop into the water. Carl Mellinger, an arborist and member of the LVNOC is following up with the city.
-Gas Station. Apparently the final Court Decision has not yet been published. So no change. When it is published, the City will be citing the station to stop the Car detailing operations. The City lost the case and will not appeal. Frank L. reported that there has been no gas sold for a few months, only detailing.
-909 Brooktree. Were supposed to be cited for overheight landscaping in front yard. No change apparent at site.
-Amalfi construction. I haven't received any complaints and do not know the status, except I know they have done some work at 217. Alex reviewed the status and history of this issue.
-Graffiti. Quite a bit in channel, some on signs along E. Channel Rd. and on the 4th. street stairs-all reported. City says it will be a 4-day turn around.
-Fence at Ocean Ave. and Entrada. City is finally repairing and replacing the wooden fence. This was reported by me about two years ago.
Old Business:
The board would like to request that Monique Ford from Cindi M. office come back next month and readdress building and safety issues.
Committee reports:
No committee reports.
New Business:
Wooden signs on Latimer. Frank Langen will find out who put them there.
Meeting adjourned at 8pm.
