A general discussion was held on the goals for the committee.
It was decided that we would like to get preliminary information on the committee’s ideas out to the membership prior to the next Annual meeting (2004). This could be done with a special mailing or in the next newsletter.
The consensus of the committee was that at the 2004 Annual meeting, we should have Kevin Keller present to provide information on "Community Overlay Districts".
Jill volunteered to email the SMCCA Vision Statement for a Neighborhood plan to committee members. She also is to get the FAR list from George.
Marilyn is going to contact the City of LA to find out what are the particular "Parkway" planting regulations.
For the next meeting, bring in a list of specifics wishes for canyon design recommendations.
The next meeting will be held December 8th.
(preliminary draft)
-Landscaping. The prevailing landscaping, especially the trees, has attracted many Canyon residents and is to be cherished and protected. Environmentally sensible relationships to the outdoors are desired.
-Parking. Expanded houses should require expanded on-site parking. There should be no Hillside "hardship" waivers re off-street parking.
-Scale of development. Houses should be kept to a scale proportionate to lot size and neighborhood conditions. Floor/area ratio (FAR) limits to be considered.
-Cultural History. The cultural history of the canyon should be recognized.
