The new Local Volunteer Neighborhood Oversight Committee [VNOC] for improvements to the Rustic Canyon Recreation Center will hold its first official meeting next Monday evening January 13 at 7:30 pm in the Library Room at the park at 601 Latimer Road. This and all VNOC meetings will be open to the public and public participation is encouraged.
The seven member committee is composed of the following local residents:
Steve Boyers,
Carl Mellinger,
Alejandro Ortiz,
Sven Svendsen,
Nelson Willis,
Hariet Zaretski, and
Jessie Zwick
The committee members represent appointments by Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski and the Department of Recreation and Parks. The committee will be working with Neil Drucker of the Bureau of Engineering, the City-wide coordinator for these projects. Nelson Willis is the committee chair. Funding for any improvements at the park will come from the Proposition K annual assessment. The committee is aiming to identify projects that can be constructed beginning after next June 30.
A previous effort last year was abandoned by Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski after community objections.
The committee is required by law to meet at least three times and all meetings are open to the public. Updates will be posted on our website.
Alejandro Ortiz, Nelson Willis, Harriet Zaretsky plan for first VNOC meeting.
