Minutes - October 5, 2004

Meeting held at Rustic Canyon Recreation Center

Meeting was called to order at 7:09 by President George Wolfberg.
Introductions:
Approval of Minutes. The minutes of September 14 were approved as submitted.
Treasurers report:
Babs Lebowsky reported that there was no change from the last report. An added $10 membership should appear on the next bank statement.
President’s report:
An e-newsletter was emailed last week to current and past members. Several addresses primarily from aol and earthlink bounced back for various reasons. A list of these was passed around. George and Monique Ford went to the Planning Department downtown to ascertain the status of the setbacks at 599 Entrada Drive. A review of microfilm from 1940 revealed that a 5 ½-foot wall was approved along the Entrada front yard setback. A 5 ½- wall also was approved along the side yard of Kingman, subject to the location not exceeding the “then current” setback. The Planning Department was unable to determine the 1940 approved side yard setback. Monique Ford will be contacting the Building and Safety Department to determine what that department’s records say.
There was a discussion of the Canyon Service Station. The station continues to do car detailing although the City has withdrawn approval for this activity. The possible loss of the station was lamented. Sale is pending due diligence review, including soil issues.
Old Business:
-Prop K Project. We are still awaiting a start date from the City Engineer..
-Gas Station. See President’s report, above.

Dates for Future Meetings. This will be discussed at our November meeting.
Other business.
Quentin Fleming reported regarding the sycamore trees demolished in the Halloween truck accident last year. The residents at 601 San Lorenzo were contacted and approved replacement of the two trees. George and Quentin will follow up with the Council office.
Cynthia Winter noted the recent alcohol-related arrests in the vicinity of the Liquor Srore and wondered whether the store had many recent violations. A request for information will be made to Senior Lead Officer Chris Ragsdale.
Betty Bradshaw noted the large house being erected across from 909 Greentree and asked for the status of the reported violations at that address. A request will be sent to the City Council Office.
